Where and What is 305 Lime Street?

What is 305 Lime Street?

305 Lime Street encompasses all of my loves--photography, design, typography and brings them all together under one roof. As a teenager I was interested in photography, which led me to work on the high school yearbook. A new world of layout design was presented to me, and with the help of talented teachers and editors, I learned the ins and outs of Adobe InDesign. My senior year I was Editor-in-Chief of Odyssey, and allowed myself to dabble in all the areas of the yearbook. The teacher who had been over the yearbook prior, left to teach at a different school and I was left with a large staff and a new adviser. All-in-all, we produced a book we proud to put our names to.

In 2006 after graduating high school, the plan was to major in graphic design, but after bouncing around the different colleges my university offered, I settled with a degree in English, but that didn't stop the pixels from running through my veins! I took a visual media class in 2009 from the wonderful Caryn Esplin and enjoyed everything I learned in my first class. It just built upon the design principles I had learned from my time in yearbook.

After a year and a half stint in Miami (and may I add, I didn't have the time/opportunity to design or even touch a design program during that time,) I returned to BYU-Idaho and continued my education. My first class was another Visual Media class that built upon the first one I had a year and a half prior. To say the least, my computer skills were rusty. I loved everything we were doing, but getting the flow back was difficult. Before it had seemed as if this art medium flowed out from me, and suddenly it was gone. After struggling for a semester and working on re-learning how to work a computer, I was able to get it back. Sure, I still don't know exactly what I'm doing all the time, but I sure have a lot of fun doing it!

Tag along and see what exciting projects come my way! Welcome to the 305!
